Space Highway by Alienphysique Space Highway by Alienphysique
Enjoy the wonderful view here on the Interplanetal-Space-Highway passing Rhondon Moon!
These flying streets pervade a large part of this galaxy to facilitate smaller ships covering great distances in short time without needing to carry large amounts of fuel with them. That makes traveling between planets very popular here. A few of these gigantic highways also end on so called "Intergalaxial-Space-Ports", which even enable travels to other galaxies.

Software used:
- Adobe Photoshop
- Autodesk 3Ds Max

Suggester Comments: "Impressive composition and use of colors and how nice the artist did an incredible job on the planets which have different positions of lightning and are in different sizes!" ( Suggested by QAuZ and Featured by alltheoriginalnames )

This is amazingly cool! How do you begin this sort of stuff? I'd love to learn!

I'll tell you! Reasonly I´m really bad at devising inventive concepts. I also hate to think about concepts at all but I also came aware, that I do have the really best concept ideas just then, when I´m not thinking about them. Those ideas that fall to me on coincidence, are mostly the best – I just don´t want to enforce anything. Generally I do see myself as a digital engineer. I love finding technical solutions or simply learn them from others. From time to time I learn something new and say to myself: I want to try that stuff out on my own! That was also how it startet with "Space Highway" … I wanted to test new techniques to set light on planets and create lense effects. Well, as I forfilled that wish to myself, a relatively cool looking Space Art has been born, but there was still no „sense“ in it, nothing special, no statement behind.
Especially at that time I came to think of why spaceships may be some quite unrealistic stuff - Fuel. The amount of fuel, that is needed to conquere the distance between planets would make a spacecraft extremely large built. At least for less persons. Mass production for ships like that would be ridiculous.
Now there are many solutions for that problem (at least in Science Fiction literature). For example the discovery of a new kind of fuel, that is much more efficient than all matter ever known before. Or a completely new form to travel- like through a wormhole. I wanted to think in another direction, a "more humanly" direction. I was thinking about streets connected to giant power generators, however they would look like. In those streets ships could be linked in and beeing transported - within artificial generated gravity fields or something like that (similar to escalators). A spaceship transported that way would only need to include enough fuel itself to occasionally chance the street (like it is with highway exits) and to land on a planet. After thinking that idea to an end, I thought about integrating this concept into my Space Art. Some style testings of those spacestreets were following and in the end I worked them out in detail. The design of the streets is incidentally inspired by the movie "Sucker Punch"!!
Condensed that sort of ultimate result has not been planed from it´s beginning, but has been developed and grown in the course of time.

It´s a bit late to ask that question at that point, but was that the answer you were looking for, or are you more interested in the technical parts of the work?

Well, more so the technical side yes! Still, I read your tips and they are great advice for anybody, thank you!
